  1. Sister, hanging out
  2. Hilary, being weird and hanging upside down
  3. Pal, hesistant to come play with Sister and Hilary
  4. Allie, laying in wait to divebomb Sister

Aside from the fact that Sister is clearly responsible for the commentary on the weird and kind of creepy photo (I might divebomb, but I do not lurk – that thing is lurking), it’s a fairly accurate summation of our friendships. The image below is equally on-point.

Also, I know I put up a lot of YouTubes, but I can assure you that any video clip I share really  is worth watching. Unless I’m doing it to fill space, in which case I will say so. This is worth watching because it is awkward and so wrong yet simultaneously hilarious and a little fascinating. Dooooo it.

drivin’ and cryin’

Posted by AllieB on September 8, 2010

Time spent in the car is time I allocate for me – it’s AllieTime. I don’t prefer to talk on the phone, and I don’t like to listen to people talking at me (I’ve never been a fan of The Bert Show – blasphemous, I know).

What I do like to do, however, is listen to music and, from time to time, even add my own harmonization. My favorite tunes along with to sing:

  1. Taylor Swift – I’m not particular, any one will do
  2. Breathe (2 am) by Anna Nalik; not especially uplifting –  it’s better for a, shall we say, less happy occasion where perhaps you just need a little release…or something…so I’ve heard…
  3. I think I have to stop making this list because I’m realizing my sing-a-long choices are kind of weird and more than a little embarrassing. Instead I’ll just mention Hilary’s favorite, which is Celine Dion.

Turns out AllieTime is more confidential than I realized. Note to self. Anyway, I would like to share with you this moving rendition of Les Miserables “I Dreamed a Dream” from Glee. This may or may not be on my sing-a-long list.

My Favorite Week of Food (One of Several)

Posted by AllieB on August 24, 2010

I love to go out to eat, but my austerity budget doesn’t leave much extra kashmonay for such frivolities. Options in my price range tend to consist of Willy’s, Fellini’s, and ramen. Enter: RESTAURANT WEEK!! These wallet-friendly food holidays are the highlights of my year, and I’m very excited.

This year, Midtown Restaurant Week is September 4, 2010 thru September 12, 2010, and, with 27 participants, offers a greater selection of any other restaurant week to date. JTomm, K, A and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Pacci last fall, topped off with a dessert tray that I won’t soon forget.

I’ll have to wait until the menus are posted before making a final decision, but my current front runners are:

The full list is posted on Open Table.

Scout for the Home

Posted by AllieB on August 24, 2010

My longtime BFF, Nancy Pendergrast Duffey, owns Scout for the Home, a home furnishings and interiors store in Buckhead.

She’s appealed to the masses with her wide array of items: from custom iron pieces and stately armoires to the perfect wooden cheese board that I, and at least four of our friends, purchased as a holiday gift, there’s something for everyone.

I could go on and on about how amazing the store is – I’ve been known to do just that, actually – but I recommend going in for yourself. And you can meet Scout!
